Aliens vs Predator Classic 2000 on a netbook
When a game has a similarly-named movie to itself, you know that the game has a serious fan following. This includes games like Max Payne, or Hitman. Just like these two fan favourites, Aliens vs Predator has its own movie, and then again, there’s also a 2010 remake of the game by SEGA, but people of the original AvP series will never forget the first AvP made by Rebellion. It was good, and much better than its sequels.
You can either be an Alien, Predator or Colonial Marine in your quest to be the master race (aka, the biggest racist) in space. Each race has its own special abilities such as the Alien’s ability to spiderman through walls and elevator shafts, or the Predator’s Protoss-like abilities of stealth and wrist blades (Zealots, anyone?) and finally, the Marine’s high-tech tools such as motion trackers and obviously, guns. There’s both a story-mode and a mindless kill-em-all skirmish mode.
AvP Classic 2000 is available from Steam at $4.99 and has been updated from the good ol’ 2000 to be compatible with today’s hardware. That means that you won’t have problems playing it in Windows 7 and on a widescreen resolution such as 1024×600. The question, however, is whether you can tolerate the graphics of the last decade. The game has also been updated to be playable in single and multiplayer, and includes everything from the AvP Gold and Millenium Expansion Pack.
We’re lacking feedback on how a non-Steam version runs, if anyone has any info and tested it on a netbook, please contact us at [email protected].
