Not even in Dragon Age can you commandeer so many people

Do you like Diablo-styled RPGs? Then Dungeon Siege is a game that you should seriously consider, given that installation and running the game is low-fuss.

What a liar

Just like most RPGs, the protagonist is someone who is gonna save the world. You play a humble farmer who lives in the Kingdom of Ehb. In this Kingdom, Krugs have overrun the land and are besieging all that is holy. It is your job to get rid of them. In the process, you will travel through the different terrains high up in the mountains, or in the arid desert, or into the forest. You’ll meet undead enemies, the Droog and the Krugs.

In a linear fashion, the game takes you through moments of hacking and slashing, meeting new party members to recruit, and then going out to continue hacking and slashing. Although you might have party members, it seems that they aren’t so important as they would be in games like Dragon Age or Neverwinter Nights. You don’t really need to do much strategising on how best each member can complement the other. Their purpose is to attack head-on, and that’s what they do.

But don’t dismiss the game as only a game a loon will play. It actually delivers the fun of Diablo-esque RPGing, with its addictive levelling-up, and item collecting. Then, it looks better than Diablo with a good set of sounds to add to the cinematography.

The best part? Install and play. No problems on Windows 7.

Like

Great graphics, effects, sounds and music.

Last-decade graphics, but the sound is timeless

Brainless hacking and slashing

Typically RPG-addictive because of level-ups and item collecting

Dislike

Lack of involvement in gameplay (click-hack-slash-go gameplay)

Quite a simplistic storyline

Verdict

Might be too brainless for some, but on the same note, it can be quite entertaining for people who don’t want to think too much. Looks good and sounds good.

Gameplay: Great

Graphics: Good (15-30fps)

Work needed to get game to play: Minimal (5 minute)
