Hello,
I’m Corporal. The primary writer for Netbookist, and the founder of this website. I have had a netbook for quite a while now and I find that it’s the best thing ever for people looking for a budget computer which is extremely portable and light. It has everything you need for web surfing and doing work, but I didn’t start Netbookist to tell you about how much I loved doing those things on this $400 computer.
Instead, I’m creating this website to foster a connection between newcomers of netbooks, and letting people understand that a netbook has greater capabilities than what most people will tell you. The proof is in the pudding and I’ve researched quite a few games that can be played smoothly, some perfectly, while some need tweaking.
I’ve come to a conclusion that a netbook is a type of computer that is often condescended, but rarely understood. It is weak – in the face of the might i7, but it is still highly capable if you expect reasonably from it.

Hi,
I got my netbook a year ago because my other computer broke down. I always thought that the netbook that i got was always useless and it was so much different as to my laptop. I couldnt get used to the transition before i saw this website and thank you for creating all of this. I saw your list of games playable on a netbook similar to mine(which is a hp mini from verizon wireless) and i saw one of the games that i used to play on my old laptop which was gunz. Now i would love to play this game again but i dont know how to run it. If you could post a guide or email me a guide on how to run this i would be very happy and make my stay on the netbook alot better. Thanks.
Hi, I love your site
you posted a little while back about you being all over the transport tycoon sort of games, I never got into railroad tycoon personally but I have been playing those sort of games myself, I’ve been hooked on Locomotion, just recently completed it, I feel it should be in the list, also I have been hooked on another game which I was shocked ran so well with how beautiful it looked, Trains and Trucks Tycoon, I feel these should be on the list without a doubt, I have been playing these games on my Msi Wind u135, 1gb ram, Intel Atom N455
Hi caporal,
I have an Asus Eee PC X101CH with windows 7 ultimate edition with all drivers and bios updated. It can run several recent games like Defcon and spacechem and also older like heroes III but none from the dungeons and dragons series (baldur’s gate, icewind dale, planescape torment etc).
The game launches with black screen and 2 minutes later the computer makes a continuous noise and i have no choice but to reboot.
I have tried several settings but i don’t find how to fix this. Do you have any idea where it could be coming from ?
(Sorry for my bad english, i’m french)
Regards
Colder
Hi Colder,
I did manage to get Baldur’s Gate II to run on my netbook. Not sure if this might help you, but check this link out: http://netbookist.com/blog/2011/07/19/baldurs-gate-ii-shadows-of-amn-on-a-netbook/
I have a netbook acer n450 and i can run roller tycoon with ease however i cant seem to download fallout 3 on low resolution ? can anyone help ?
Hi! I was wondering about you recommendations on your list here. I have an Acer Aspire One D255 and was wondering on how you can find these games and to upload them into my system where it can run and hopefully actually run with certain ease. I would appreciate any assistance on making my dream of obtaining awesome games on this ‘dinky’ system come true. My first game I’m dying to try. Black and White. If you can give me the respective locations, recommendations on plausible software or anything alike on the matter again I would most certainly appreciate it. Thank you for taking your time on reading this message friends.
I would like to make a mention of mincraft. This will apply to 1.6.4(current version as of this post). On a stock dell mini 10v is does run. But slow and choppy even with all graphic options turned down low or off. Some things that you can do to help it is to change the process priority to 1 level below realtime and download custom small maps! You can also upgrade the mem up to 2 gig and also run a game booster software.
I hope this helps. I know some people are stuck with only a netbook to game on.
